Elgin Smith is a filmmaker with credits that include Lafayette: The Lost Hero (PBS/Arté); Constantine's Sword (theatrical release); and Sister Rose's Passion (HBO/Cinemax), an Academy Award® nominee for Documentary Short Subject in 2005. He began his career at the award-winning PBS series American Masters, and collaborated for several years with director Oren Jacoby at Storyville Films. His work has shown theatrically, at international film festivals, and been broadcast nationally. He has also worked on commissioned films for the Tribeca Film Festival, Human Rights First, The New School University and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and has collaborated with film producers, directors, photographers, creative directors, and editors. Before launching BACKTRACK films he translated his experience to the web, providing exclusive features for New York Fashion Week and behind-the-scenes vignettes for high profile commercial campaigns. A native of Montana and a graduate of the University of Montana, he lived with his wife for 10 years in Brooklyn, NY.
